Kentucky Derby Aftermath...
What a weekend. On Friday, we rented an RV and began our voyage from Atlanta to Louisville for the 132nd running of the Kentucky Derby. It was an absolutely amazing time. We arrived at the RV lot around 8pm and began to get settled in. We brought out the fire and ice grill, fixed up some dinner and had a relatively calm evening. Being Cinco De Mayo, we had a dinner of tacos. Knowing what was ahead at the Derby , that was a really good idea to have a quiet night. The next morning Jeff fixed us up some bacon and eggs on the grill and we began to head towards Churchill Downs around 10:30. Race 1 began at 11am with the Kentucky Derby being Race 10 and scheduled to be run close to 6pm.
Before staking out our spot, I made a quick run to the betting windows to get some quick wagers on the race. We than headed to our spot and laid down our blanket for the day. The day started well as Jeff and I hit the exacta in the first race. Last time I was at the Derby I won the first race also and didn't win another bet until the race after the Derby. This time was different as i won a big exacta in Race 5. A $2 wager paid me $192.60. As for the Derby, I didn't have the winners, but all of us who attended were winners. Here are some photos. But first, you must check out the video with Jeff Hughes In The News . Jeff was interviewed by the local Louisville TV station and made its way to the internet. It is a 7 minute clip. Scroll to about 3:30 and watch from there. The man is a natural with the mic in his face.
